Water is a necessity for drinking, showering, hygiene, cooking, and more. When camping, water is not always readily available and/or safe to use. To account for this RVs are equipped with tanks for carrying usable water onboard during your travels. Additionally, black and gray tanks are necessary to hold wastewater. The onboard tanks of your camper must be filled, emptied, and cleaned accordingly.
When it comes to filling up your fresh water tank, you’re going to be using either a city water connection or water from a non-pressurized source to do so. Your RV may have come pre-equipped with either a gravity-fill or pressurized fill, while some models come standard with both. You’ll notice that non-threaded ports are gravity-fed and threaded ports require water from a pressurized source.
If your current water-fill hatch is due for a replacement or update, look no further! The RV City Water Fill and Gravity Fill Hatch Combo offered by RecPro is made from durable plastic with pre-drilled holes for easy installation. Additionally, this piece features a mesh vent to prevent air blocks and permanently attached valve caps to keep things simple. The dimensions for this piece are 7 ½” wide by 5 ” high by 4” deep which will require a cutout hole of 6” wide by 3 ¾” high. The gravity fill hatch is etch-labeled “Non-Pressure Water” so that it can be easily identified and the city water fill has a plastic securing valve that is compatible with a standard hose.
The availability of fresh water in your RV is not something to be taken lightly, and that includes all components of your freshwater tank system.
