Whether your RV is an older model or a newer model, chances are they have plumbing that won't last more than a few years. This may sound like the manufacturers did a poor job but it's actually a side effect of the classic style of plumbing fittings. When manufacturers switched the expensive brass pipes and fittings for the cost-effective and flexible PEX tubing and gray tubing, plastic insert fittings, and copper crimp rings, they didn't know that there would be problems. What often happens is the plastic fitting cracks from the stress of the crimp ring, the crimp ring is not applied properly and doesn't cover all areas evenly, or it doesn't create a tight enough seal and it begins to leak after some time. Luckily, there is a solution to this problem. If you're fixing up these problems or putting in a whole new system altogether, these fittings are the answer.
Flair-it fittings are unlike the previous fitting types in that they are tighten-to-compress. This means that instead of screwing them onto the pipe or using a crimp ring to secure the tubing to it, the flared end is inserted into the tube and the screw cap is used to create a secure hold. This might sound a lot like the crimp rings but there are three very important differences. First, the flair-it fittings don't need a tool to apply them. Second, they don't rely on this screw cap for all of the staying power. The flared end expands the tube, creating friction and a tight seal. Third, you don't need different sets for either the PEX tubing or the gray "quest" tubing. Fitting to both sizes with equal quality, these fittings are crack-resistant, rust-resistant, don't require plumber's tape, and create the best seal on the market today. There is a wrench available if you would like one.
These specific fittings are used as a water heater bypass valve, helping your water flow the direction you want it to. One side and the center end has the flared end with compression cover and the third end is a male adapter end. There is a switch to control the water flow, choosing between a straight line and a 90-degree flow (bypassing the male end). Have any questions?
